Hi Everybody,
could you please check for errors in make/do usuage in the following sentences:
1. A lot of shops start MAKING their Christmas preparations in October.
2. Two times two MAKES four, right?
3. He's DOING German at the university but he's not happy with it.
4. He DID well in the entrance exams.
5. Eight hundred workers MADE a protest against lower wages.
6. DO up your coat or you'll catch a cold.
7. You'll have to MAKE some changs to the story before we print it.
8. How many kilometers per hour were you DOING when the police stopped you?
9. I don't like DOING overtime but I need the extra money.
10. I have never MADE a will.
11. You've MADE a real mess with this essay.
12. He always succeeds in MAKING the best of a difficult situation.
13. Have you ever MADE a confession to a priest?
14. Could I MAKE a note of you number in case I need it?
15. We only DID 15 kilometres the first day.
16. Why don't we DO away with the old sofa?

You omitted a couple of commas (6. and 9.) probably just typos but you might lose marks.
Changes in red to 7. and 14, are probably also typos.
In #11, I prefer, You've made a real mess OF this essay.
In UK, and in France, they write kilometre and in USA, and in Germany, they write kilometer. |
