Would you accept: The Germans have a great insecurity. I`d prefer: The Germans have feelings of insecurity. `insecurity�is not countable (`a insecurity�) Please comment!

Ah, but great insecurity is stronger than simply insecurity. So to convey the same idea, you should say:
The Germans have great/strong feelings of insecurity.
