The following is my question:
I started the clock __________.
(A) to go (B) going (C) gone (D) to be gone
The answer is (B) going, but how about (A) to go? Would you please paraphrase this sentence, and tell me what is the difference between "(A) to go" and "(B) going"?
Thanks a lot for help. |

I started the clock is sufficient. There is no need for going at all after started
You might say, I got the clock going, or I got the clock to go, but not, I started the clock going. |
