Id like to know where to place the word however in a sentence.

Which, #1, #2 or #3, below, would be the most natural for the blank, below?
1. However, the ball he had hit struck a Bun-ei High student on the head.
2. The ball he had hit, however, struck a Bun-ei High student on the head.
2. The ball he had hit struck a Bun-ei High student on the head, however.

Last Saturday, Unicorn High baseball team had a game with Bun-ei High. We won by a score of 1 to 0. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Yamada, our captain, hit a home run. ( ) The student was soon taken to the hospital. Fortunately his injury was not serious.

I came across #2, but I think #1 is the most natural. What do you think?

I assume that the sentence before your example will be about the home run that was hit. Is this right?

#1 and #2 are both fine and they both sound natural to me. Either one works.

If you have other questions, you can have them answered in my audio podcast at ww.culips.com.
