As well as worrying about the expense, advertisers must also consider which media are most appropriate for their product and which their target audience is most likely to see.
Shall We add "the" before "most appropriate" and "most likely" since it is superlative adjective? |
No, it is not necessary here. You need to add a definite article if you are going to give the comparative context with a preposition that shows the nouns being compared or some other adverbial clause showing what is being compared. E.g.
Of all the boys I know, he is the kindest.
This store has the best selection in town.
She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.
She is the most talented in her orchestra section.
If you do not give a comparative context, then the is optional. E.g.
He's my best friend. (don't need "the")
If you hike that trail, you will most likely see a snake.
If you don't wear gloves, you will most likely get frost burn.
Often, most is used figuratively as an intensifier, not literally as a comparative superlative, and can be replaced by "very". Then you also do not need a definite article. _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |
