1. Is OK.
2. Just say: "He was depressed". If you need to explain it further, be more specific... e.g. He was depressed because he had to support his family.
3. He was down, is a modern idiom used to mean he was depressed, sad etc. You needn't add, "with care".
4. This means he and his children were bowed down. If you say by his children, it works.
5. He was bowed down by the loss of a battle would be correct. |
