The reason environment is the best choice is that there is a very common and recurring theme to determine whether heredity or environment accounts for or contributes more to behavior or personality or even health.

It's sometimes called the nature-nurture question. Are you happy and optimistic because you were born that way (nature) or because your parents were loving and caring (nurture)? Are you lazy and disreputable because of your genetic makeup (heredity) or because you grew up among lazy, disreputable (or industrious, respectable) people (environment)?
