Hello, teachers!!

(A) You may not come here.
----->
Do you have two meanings for (A)?
(1) I think that you will not come here.
(2) You must not come here.

Is the sentence "I doubt you come here" better for (1) meaning?

Thank you in advance.

Hello!

You may not come here.

This means "You are not allowed to come here." or "You must not come here."

I hope this helps!

Dear Suzanne:

Thank you for your quick replies.

I have a question. When you want to say "I think that you will not come here," can you make the sentence which uses "may"?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

It's okay to say "You may not come here." However, it is not a strong statement, if you are forbidding someone from coming. You can make it stronger by writing, "You may never come here again."

If you are speaking, you can add emphasis by saying, "You may NOT come here."

Does that help?
