2. Yes!

3. Yes... You are talking about the future, right?.. Then again, this would also work as a polite way to say it for the present tense, I think.

4. it depends... this works for a situation where "if one of them had been here" (for example, an hour ago), "I wouldn't have to face this problem" (that I'm facing at the moment or that I am about to face in a few minutes). For example: Had one of you been here by now with your car, I wouldn't have to walk through this torrential rain to buy groceries.

If your "facing of the problem" was also in the past, then you need a small edit: Had one of you been here, I wouldn't have had to face this problem.

I wasn't very clear... The sentence is natural, and needs only that one correction: I have heard that we are supposed to do it.
