Hello, teachers!!
(1) Let's go for a drive somewhere to kill time.
(2) Let's go for a drive somewhere to kill the time.
I think that (1) is good, but why is (2) bad? Can you say (2) in everyday conversation?
What is the difference between (1) and (2)?
Thank you in advance. |

I think they are both fine.
The only small difference is that you might say "kill the time" when the amount of time you are 'killing' is a specified amount.
Example: let's say you have 3 hours until a party starts. It would make more sense to say "kill the time" because "the time" is a definite period of 3 hours.
People often say "kill some time" as well. _________________
