Hi. I'd like to know if "represent" and "stand for" are freely interchangeable in the following sentence,"LA [stands for] Los Angelas?" Thank you.[/url][/u]

No, I wouldn't use represent here. We normally use stand for when talking about any type of abbreviation.

There are many ways to use represent and stand for. You just about have to take them one at a time.
