1. Why do you think someone would want to be on a boat in a race like the America's Cup?
2. In the America's Cup and in World Cup soccer and the Olympics, different nations compete against each other. This contributes to a feeling of national pride and patriotism. Sometimes it can lead to too much competition and dislike of other countries. Do you think it's good for nations to compete against each other in world class competitions? Why or why not?
1. Although the Americas cup has a long history , prestige and it can be a once in a life time experience I think that only a person who loves the adventure and the sea can be interested in this kind of activity. It has to be a person that really likes to live a hard and exciting experience.
If this person fulfills with the profile I do believe that he/she can enjoy this experience and he/she can remember it the rest of his/her live.
We have to consider that its not only about sailing, its also about boat and sailing design and management skills. I think that a person who lives this experience can be really proud of him/herself. Its a kind of challenge and a really nice experience.
2. In my opinion theres no problem about competitions between different countries. I think that its really nice that each country prepares itself for a sport international competition and it shouldnt be a problematic item. However this events turn into a political competition and sometimes sports take a secondary role.
I think that this is the main problem with this kind of events. If it wasnt a political competition or a fight between countries it would be one of the most beautiful event of the year. |
