Hi,
How can I make the following sentence concise?
"We account for the apparent selectional relation between the noun and the verb beloning to the first group, and the apparent selectional relation between the noun and the verb belonging to the second type." |

Hi!
| Quote: |

Since the two phrases are the same, I would just combine them:
"We account for the apparent selectional relation between the nouns and the verbs in both groups." [or "examples"]
OR
"We account for the apparent selectional relation between the noun and verb in each group." [or "example"]
I must admit that this is a confusing sentence...I have no idea what a "selectional relation between a noun and verb" means! Did you find this sentence in a book? I'm curious to learn where it came from. |

Thanks for your reply.
The "selectional relation" is a linguistic term. |
