Chatting on the internet may not be the best way to improve your English. This is because native English speakers tend to be careless about their language while online. Aside from the "creative" spellings and abbreviations, many people often confuse certain key words. A lot of the time, you will see misuses of its/it's, there/their/they're, your/you're, to/too, as well as other less common mistakes. The problem with this is that if you rely on the Internet to learn, you may learn some bad writing habits that will become very difficult to correct. |

I guess it depends on the chat you're in. I just had the experience with chats in my mother-tongue. Of course noone cares about the language in love chats or something similar. But if you fing a topic-titled chat like a politics chat or a reading chat, you'll find people, who care about the right word spelling and an acceptable style.
Another opportunity is looking for a forum. Of course there are forums, where the 'chat language' is very famous, but there are a lot of other ones, where people're writing interesting postings and watch their language.
Listening to English songs is in my opinion very useful to get a feeling for the language. I noticed that, when I decided to learn a second foreign language. Even if this language is also popular, such as French or Spanish, you rarely hear songs. It doesn't surround you as much as English does. And music is very important for many young people.

Hello guys,
Thanks to share your opinion with me. I got some idea about learning English.
In my experiece, listening English song is a good way to study English. Also,it is very relaxtion. However, I am not quite sure people can improve English by chatting. Perhaps, it can stimulate your idea. |
