Hi Zeppy,

There must be a ton of them, but I can only think of a few at the moment:

It's freezing! (freezing is said with great dramatics)
It's freezing out there! (said when inside, especially upon entering)
It's colder than h e l l out there! (rather odd, since h e l l is kind of hot, but that's English for you)
Brrrrr! It is cold! ('cold' said with great emphasis... 'Brrrr' is a sound that is difficult to describe, but some people just say 'burrrrr' where the 'r' sound is sustained for a second or two... that we don't contract 'it is' here helps to emphasize the statement.)

We also talk about 'cold snaps.' A 'cold snap' is a period of at least three days, often longer, where the weather is extremely cold, much colder than normal for that area and that time of year. (The opposite in summer is 'heat wave.')

Hope that helps, Zeppy.

PS: If you don't mind a couple of suggestions:

1. It's really cold today. (Your sentence is correct, but it's usually said this way.)

2. What a chilly day! (singular 'day' - This is good for a brisk fall day when it is a little cold for that time of year. You could also use it on a very cold winter day to make your point with understatement.)
