Dear teachers,
I've seen this sentence in a book.
"The hottest night yet that summer."
Is the sentence correct?
because there is no verb, 'yet' is a adverb.
Could you answer my question ASAP?
Thanks in advance.

It would help to see the sentence that came before this one. Probably the writer just set off the phrase as a separate sentence. It's a mistake, but it mirrors the way people speak sometimes:
It was 90 degrees at 8:00 p.m., the hottest night yet that summer. Correct.
It was 90 degrees at 8:00 p.m. The hottest night yet that summer. Incorrect. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
