This table is not half as wide as it is long.
Can you paraphrase the above sentence?
Does it mean the length is not half the width or the width is not half the length?

If you have a table that is 2 metres long and 1 metre wide, the table is half as wide as it is long.
If the table is 2 metres long and only 75cms wide (or any width less than 1 metre) it is less than half as wide as it is long.
OR. Not half as wide as it is long. |
