I just happened to hear a song called "Mr. Sandman" and I love the sweet melody and the relaxing lyrics. I wanted to know what Mr.Sandman is, wondering if it is some kind of symbol or something. I tried looking it up in the Internet and found that the name came originally from a fairy tale. Would anyone tell me what the tale is all about? I would appreciate it if you would. Thank you. Razz

Hi! the Sandman is a character from a very old story parents told children at bedtime in the US and probably in other English-speaking countries as well. When you go to sleep, the Sandman comes and sprinkles your eyes with sand. That is why your eyes are gross and crusty in the morning! I have always called that gross stuff "sleep" (as in, "you have sleep in your eye.") but "sleep" gets put in your eyes by the Sandman. He is also supposed to bring you good dreams, so that is why the song says, "Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream." Her dream is a cute boy!!!! Hope that helps!
