Are both correct in the parentheses in the following sentence?

The trees are harder to grow than any other (tree/trees).

I would say," The trees are harder to grow than any other trees,
or, "The tree is harder to grow than any other tree."

Any is used to refer to one, or some, or a number of things, no matter how many or how much.
