Hello, teachers!!
She has three other children ( ) Tom.
(1) besides (2)except
I think that both (1) and (2) are correct, but the answer is (1).
Could you explain why (1) is only correct?

"Besides" is similar to "in addition to". She has four children total; Tom is one, and the three other children make four.
"Except" is similar to "not including" for example: All of her children like to go to the zoo, except Tom. (Tom doesn't like to go to the zoo.) |
