Dear All,

I am wondering about the difference b/w the two sentences below:

(1) I intended to go abroad for further study.
(2) I intended to have gone abroad for further study.

Could someone be nice enough to help me out here, please?

Thanks a million!

Smallray

1. I intended to go abroad for further study (past or perfect tense expressing a past action or state).
I my opinion #2. should have been written as:-
I had intended to go abroad for further study.
(Pluperfect tense denoting an action completed prior to some past point of time specified or implied).
