I�m trying to put a sentence in Japanese into English . The following is what I have made.
I hear that if you can explain to ( ) doctor how you feel when you get ill in a foreign country, your language ability is perfect.
For the blank above, which is more appropriate, #1 or #2, below?
1. the
2. a
I chose #1, but I�m not sure. What do you think? |

I would say that "a" is the better answer.
It refers to any doctor you may visit. |

| I would accept "the" as well, meaning the doctor to whom you are speaking. |
