Hi,
Could you please help me with this sentence?
He knows just as many people have probably visited this place.
I can't understand the structure "as many.."here.
What does "as" mean here? Is it the same case as in "I know as many people as you"?
Thanks for responding to this question. |

Just as many means an equal number (of)
Just as many people -an equal number of people.
Just is used here in its meaning of exactly. |

I think there is something missing. You need something to compare the sentence with. In your example, it probably was in the preceding sentences. (For example, they first went to a museum, where they found out that 1,000 people had visited in the last month. Now they are at a second museum, and the person says, "He knows just as many people have probably visited this place." The understanding would be the "this place" is the second museum, and the comparison is with the first museum.) |
