Dear teacher
I have two questions
1.
the song Taylor Swift - Should've Said No
there is a sentence is
"You should've known that word, 'bout what you did with her"
What's the " 'bout " means??
2.
in a artical
"...or the restaurant has more subdued atmophere."
I can't understand it, does it describe the restaurant is bustling??
Thank you! |

'bout = the ' indicates a missing letter - the word is about.
In an article...
You can look up the word subdued in your dictionary. If you don't have one you should get one.
Subdued means:- (of a person) quiet and reflective, or depressed.
Or (in this case) soft, or quiet.
So, a restaurant with a subdued atmosphere is quiet, probably not with bright lighting and I would say, the opposite of bustling. |
