Can you tell me which sentence in the following is correct?
1. They are as busy as a bee.
2. They are as busy as bees. |

Number two would be my choice. "Bees" is plural and agrees with "They."
You are talking about a group and comparing it to a group.
In number one the comparison is between a group and an individual "bee", whose behavior might not be the same as the rest of the hive (they, as a group are workers where as an individual bee might be prone to sting). Far out explanation, but logical. _________________ Educe22 |
