Bloomberg radio listeners are:
-234% more likely to read the Wall Street Journal.

How do I interpret this?

Say if there are 100 non-Bloomberg radio listeners, there will be 234 Bloomberg radio listeners who are likely to read the Wall Street Journal.

1. Don't put a minus sign before "234", even if you intend it to be a hyphen. Anyway, it should be one uninterrupted sentence without the colon.
2. Many people will agree with your statement, but actually it is completely incorrect.

[color=blue]Consider the below.

If Bloomberg listeners are 34% more likely..........., there will be 134 Bloommberg listeners. (for every 100 non-Bloomberg listeners)
If Bloomberg listeners are 134% more likely........., there will be 234 Bloomberg listeners.
If Bloomberg listeners are 234% more likely.........., there will be 334 Bloomberg listeners.(not 234!!!!!)

It is extremely unfortunate that that completely incorrect interpretation is accepted as being correct.

This demonstrates that a language is not only based on meanings and grammar. It is also based on logic and common
sense.
