Hello. I have a quuestion about this English phrase: "heads on plates." What does it mean? I couldn't even find it in several English dictionaries, including idioms dictionaries. Please anybody help me. Thanks. |

It's probably a biblical reference: Herod delivered the head of John the Baptist to the daughter of Herodias on a silver charger (a large flat dish).
In modern times, "I want his head on a plate" can be construed as a threat to ruin somebody.
If your boss wants your head on a plate you are in BIG trouble. |
