Do you think the word "timeworn" could be replaced by "old" in the sentence below?
"For generations, Lisbons reputation has been wrapped up in fado, the centuries-old folk music that drifts like teary, windblown tissue from the citys timeworn fado houses, which are de rigueur stops for travelers."
Another question: can "strung up" be replaced by "anxious"?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Stormy Weather. |

Timeworn suggests not only "old", but also "looking a bit old"
Like the building equivalent of a faded pair of jeans you've had for years but still like.
Maybe.
Hope helps,
