What situation do you use this following sentence in?
I put it to you that that you are lying.
Does this sentence have the same meaning as "You are lying".

Mostly used in court when questioning witnesses for the other side.
"I put it to you that..." doesn't really add any meaning, except an idea of an invitation to reply.
