Dear Teachers,
I'm a student from Taiwan.
I have watched several movies, and I noticed that someone in the movie always says"F u c k"、"S h i t".
I think that is funny.
However, American teacher always ask me not to say "f u c k" to the foreigner (American、British and so forth).
How can I use these words correctly?
Can I use it in the form like "What's the f u c k" as the meaning of "What's happened?"?
(Some Taiwan students love to use it in the daily conversation, and I don't know whether it is appropriate to say to the American. )
Thanks a lot! |

| Those words are often used by native speakers, but only in certain situations. If you don't know the culture and customs well, it's much better not to use them. Otherwise, you could make yourself a lot of trouble. |

Yes, I have gotten into trouble when I was a child.
I said this word to my foreign teacher while playing with him, and he got angry right away and then kicked me down on the floor. That's why I confused.
Thanks a lot!!! |

There are several words that you really should not say in public because they are considered crude or in poor taste. Saying those words will either embarrass other people or make you sound uncouth or crude.
Although you will hear them in movies, usually movies that try to portray people speaking "real English" or perhaps to shock or seem cool, the words nevertheless are usually not heard in polite company.
The words include f u c k, s h i t, p i s s, a s s h o l e, p r i c k, p u s s y, c u n t, c o c k, b i t c h, and others.
When in doubt, don't say those words out loud. You will never be wrong to leave them out, but you could be wrong to say them. You can always find another way to say the same thing without using these "naughty" words.
Hope this helps. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
