Red: [narrating] Sometimes it makes me sad, though... Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Dear teachers,

I watched "The Shawshank Redemption" again last week.

This time I found a great quotes-"some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright."

Is the sentence describing that Andy is great because he got his own faith and he really escaped from the prison?

many thanks,
Demos

More or less, yes, I think. Certainly it's saying that Andy was special and deserved to escape. Can't remember the film enough to tell you more.

Best wishes,
Ian

Using two words which are more difficult to understand is not a solution.

Nor was there anything to solve at that point.

This is a help centre. Please limit yourself to genuine help.

Thank you.
