Hi, I'm wondering if I can change the sentences (1) & (2) into the sentence (3). Please give me a hand. Thanks in advance : )

(1) Because my father was sick in bed, I could not go to work for a couple of days last week.

(2) My father being sick in bed, I could not go to work for a couple of days last week.

(3) My father sick in bed, I could not go to work for a couple of days last week.

A participle phrase is an adjective phrase that starts with a participle. It usually follows the noun (or pronoun) which it modifies.

Not really.
Sentences 1 and 2 are fine, but 3 needs something more.

You could say "With my father sick in bed, ..."

Best wishes,
Ian
