I encountered with a sentence below.
They vote for who they want to run the country.
I think the above sentence should be corrected into the following.

Whomever is the object of the preposition for.

I think "whomever" would be the correct one, as it is the object. "They vote for whomever they want to run the country." Lotus explained the reason, but typed "whoever". I think it was a mistake. |
