What difference does it make when I change the last clause below into ' because you're lazy"?


You can use very as an intensifier when it creates a nice effect or is the clearest choice, but make sure you aren't dropping it in just because you're being lazy.

Generally speaking, the difference between "you're lazy" and "you're being lazy" is that the former is one of your defining characteristics. You are a lazy person. However, when we say "you're being lazy" we are simply saying that you are behaving lazy right NOW, not that you are a lazy person in general at other times.

"You're a jerk!" -- it's who you are
"You're being a jerk!" -- it's how you're behaving now
