there are many variations of fillings for cabbage rolls. to start you cut the core out of a cabbage head and pour boiling water over it. then you separate the leaves and take the thick veins out so they will roll up. now you make your filling to put in the cabbage leaves. you can make a cooked grain, rice, vegetable, meat, or combination filling. whatever you have in the kitchen will probably work. taste test the filling to see if it needs spices or broth. put a small amount of filling in each leaf and roll it up, placing it in a roasting pan. when the pan is full, put any sauce you want over the top. you may use cream, mushroom, meat gravy, cheese sauce, or anything else you think would taste good. then bake it in 325 degree oven for about 1 hour. good luck. i have a head of cabbage in the refrigerator, so maybe i will do this too unless i just cook up ham and cabbage with onion instead. _________________ coffeedecafe |
