As a local in Taiwan, I've never got myself too much involved with anything related to political sense until recently. The presently new president election seems merely a warming-up for Taiwanese newborn democracy development. After the tragic took place in Spain and the following shooting accident of the assissination attemp in Taiwan, I started feeling burnt for the disharmony spreading over the world. I'm watching a live drama and addicted to watching TV news those delivering our people's outranges in front of The President Hall. These days, every time when I woke up in the middle of rainy night, I wondered how many people I know or I don't know still fought for their wills outside without getting enough sleeps and warmth. Taiwan is small, but we are strong.

From time to time, I wonder if there was a bomb under a certain seat in the carriage of the MRT train. What if the bomb lied over there? What I'd be supposed to do to react then?

This is not the side effect after a film or a movie but jsut on the contrary it's the vast impact from the daily bloodshed in the news broadcasting.

My goodness, that really happened to poeple like you, like him, like me. What's next?

ps. still pray for WT's peace and bliss~~

I haven't watched the news very often since the presidential election ended. Although the pooling day, March 20, for the presidential election is already days from today, the feverish election atmosphere still surround the entire Taiwan. To tell the truth, I hate it! All these election-related news on TV really make me anxious and nervous. Therefore, I try to watch other programs instead of current news. I truly hope that the recount will be finished soon and the truth of presidential shooting incident will be revealed quickly, and everyboday can back to his normal life!

taiwans democracy may have expericed a glitch with the shooting and controversy surounding the elections legitamacy, but its not going to be a disaster. think of other young democracies and the problems they have experienced. right now, south korea's president is facing impeachment. democracies in 'young nations ' like zimbabwe have totally collapsed. when a protest happens in a nation as divided as taiwan, normally it is violent and chaotic. look at haiti, another country with a split population. thay have a coup and a virtual civil war. so, taiwanese people have conducted themselves with dignity and constraint, and when the system survives this current period of instability, it will grow back stronger.
