future of Iraq?!
My prediction is americans won`t leave this country for a very long time because there many people who is still supporting Saddam. So, if americans leave this country there is a big opportunity returning the old regime. Saddam`s people have weapons and they are ready to change the regime back.
The partisan war will continue and increase more and more every day. All americans can do is to kill all Saddam`s suppoters or take them into prisons. But they can`t do it because they don`t know all of them and they can`t break intenationl laws (actually USA can do whatever it want).
Iraqi people will get tired of existence of americans on their land. Iraqi people don`t want americans to manage they oil companies and do on iraqi oil-money what americans want but not iraqi.
The question is not in a number of oil which USA had before the attack but in an oil-price. According the "food-oil-programe" there was 1% of abilities of Iraq to export oil. When Iraq solve his problems and arrange a production of oil and increase export, the world price of oil will go down. And you know who is the biggest oil-importer in the world. Yeah, USA. All people like small prices than big. And oil is very important in economics of USA.

I'm a portuguese student and I wanna tell you something about your country.
I think you know that your country (CIA) support and form the Bin Laden I also think that you know that has the CIA that put Saddam rule Iraq so don't you tell me that Saddam support terrorism because your country and is the support for terrorism.
This fact don't say that I defend Saddam but I think that first the real reasons for this war no one had tell yeath because they never found the weapons of mass destruction and if they did I would ask who put them there; second Portugal had one dictator, Salazar, and if someone just because he was a dictator come to my country kill my family, destroit my house, ocuppated my country and a lots of things sorry but NO! The portuguese people had finish with this regime and it should be iraquian people to finish with Saddam regime.

Im sorry that many armies were killed in this war and also citizen of Iraq who has no relation to this war was killed including women and children. I do not think this is good way to unify this country, I think this war makes just hatred, anger, sadness and maybe makes other terrorism like 9.11.

So, I think USA should leave from Iraq immediately, because in Iraq, there are too much problems like nuclear weapon, religion, politics, and so on. I think it is not easy to unify this country like USA and other countries are attacking right now. USA and other nation should discuss more and more for solution, and especially discuss nations which are opposed to this war and that way, we will find out the best way to world peace :D

Recently, situation of Iraq is getting worse. President Bush says, Iraq has the Weapon of Massive Destruction, but it is not still found. It is very doubtful if Bush has clear vision of after the Iraq war? I dont think so. At this rate, number of soldiers will be killed and also Iraqi people will die. These days, an ally of U.S. announced that about withdraw from Iraq. U.S. should think why these countries decided it. In addition, terrorist group says: we are attack to U.S. and ally countries. If it is true, many peoples life is threatened so I think U.S. must withdraw the army soon.

Hello! I'm a Japanese university student. In Japan, the news of the Iraq war is announced every day.
The other day, I was so shocked to watch the news that an American man was executed by armed Iraqis group. They cut off the American's neck, besides , they opened the picture of the execution to their homepage. They said it was the revenge for sexual abuse to Iraqi prisoners from American army. I suppose it was a revenge, but American goverment insist that it was just expression of their true colors. I think Americans don't want to admire their fault.
I want Bush to quite president quickly! What do you think about his attitude to Iraq war?

The condition of Iraq is getting worse, it doesnt get well.
What should we do for the recovery of Iraq? I want somebody to tell me. Nobody answers this question. I guess so.
If this condition continues, innocent people will keep being killed. Its so sad and meaningless. Nobody becomes happy.
I hope that this condition changes dramatically, but it is extremely difficult, I think.
I wish a day of no terrorism comes right away. Not only I but also everybody hopes it.

The iraq war is another vietnam

Not only this time is it unjustified.

This is an act of international TERRORISM by a country that promotes its own selfish vallues and make it seem the will of all Western nations.

The americans should just stick their noses out of other people's buisness for a change.

They have just gone too far this time, America is no longer a country that deserves to be called the leader of the world

If the U.S. didn't intervene in any international conflicts, do you REALLY think things would be better?

Yes Rebecca, Noam Chomsky : the mathematician, professor of linguistics at MIT, and political activist. Ever heard of 'Manufacturing Consent'?

He is now one of the most important minds alove right now (including Steven Hawking) and has written extensively on how propaganda is used by the Amercan government to justify it's attacks on 3rd world countries. He directly accuses the same government of seeking hidden political/economical benifits when attacking these 3rd world countries.

If you respect him as a linguist, perhaps you should look at what he's written on the subject of Vietnam and Iraq?

Actually, if the US don't interfere, they ask them for help. Just look at what happened in Liberia.

The international community was against the US-led war in Iraq and use the excuse that the Iraqi people themselves should be the ones to get rid of Saddam and that the US should not interfere. When civil war broke out in Liberia, the US did not interfere and this same international community accused the US for being uncaring. They even called upon the US to intervene and stop the bloodshed in Liberia. Now, whatever happen to allowing the people to topple their own dictators by themselves?????? LOL!!!

I've read "Manufacturing Consent" and a number of articles and interviews that you can find on his official website (chomsky.info). The comment was about the fact that his education is in linguistics NOT politics. I don't find his opinions to be anything original or enlightened. It disappoints me that far too many college-aged students cling to his teachings. He's been brought up in a number of forums discussing the war and I'm not a fan. Sorry! Smile
