I don't understand. origin is that " If you want to generate accurate frequency seriouly, you can't beat a synthesizer.
Is there someone who can tell me whether synthesizer can be used or not? I don't know what "can't beat" means...... Embarassed

thank you~~~~~~~~~

Hi Wangfeel,

In this sentence, 'beat' means to do (or be) better. So "can't beat" means nothing would work as well (as a synthesizer).

Hope that helps.

It sort of borrows from the use of "beat" to mean defeat, conquer, or triumph over, as in "England beat Germany 2-0 in the World Cup Final."

Yes, beat is like " defeat" or "Be better than". I also want to know the song name "beat it" sung by M.J. , what does this mean? In my hardest imagining, it means "you dance". Ha~~, hope I am a little close. Embarassed

As I'm sure you already know, many small expressions in English (sometimes with a change in preposition) can have very different meanings depending on the context.

In the song, 'beat it' means 'go away from here.' It's a command that is said usually when you consider that person to be a pest, at least for the time being. Very often, it is said by an older child to a younger child.

So I guess if you want that person to moonwalk out of your sight, rather than just walk away, then you are correct! Smile Nice try!!!
