People seem to have mixed opinions about this topic.

Personally I think that it should be illegal, and that there should be a fine. There is evidence that if you drive and do any other kind of activity at the same time, such as talking on your cell phone, that you are not giving your full attention to the road. You should pull over to the side of the road, or if that is not possible, let your phone ring - unless of course you have a handsfree set. The risk that people take if they drive and talk on their phone at the same time is enormous and the potential for causing an accident is huge. What is more important - ensuring you arrive safely at your destination without killing anyone else, or answering that call?

What is your opinion? Do you think people should be allowed to drive and talk on their cell phone? Why or why not? Or do you think governments should make it illegal? Should there be a fine or some other punishment? Rolling Eyes

there is law in malaysia to punish those people drive and make a call at the same time, dont you know that ? in my opinion, the government should take more action about it like hire officer to observe what is happening in the road now. the only law is not enough, must take action. the humans only beware after get summon!

Here in Germany it's prohibited to make a phone call while driving. Some stick to to the law, but you can still see others holding the steering wheel in one hand and the cell phone in the other. Personally, I think everybody should be allowed to do whatever (s)he wants to do, but if the health and life of other people is threatened, the government has to take action against phoning while driving.

I think cell phones are useful in our life, especially when we go to far away places or anywhere because maybe something will happen, we need to call someone for help .But I dont agree with people who say we can use them while driving because cell phones distract us and cause accidents. We have to be careful because the accidents that they cause harm the drivers and other innocent people. And everybody wants to live and doesnt want die by this way. My real opinion is that we can have cell phones but we have to use them in the right way and only for emergencies, so by this way we can preserve the lives of ourselves and other people. Cool

I think Cell phones have many advantages and disadvantages. First cell phones are very useful to people. If I am in a toilet alone, suddenly I find that there isnt any toilet paper, and I dont have any. ^^ What do I have to do?~~~~ then I have a cell phone ,so I can call my co-worker in my office, also, I can call someone near me.
Second when I go to the far away places and I have to call my family but I cant find any public phones or I dont have any coins, I can use a cell phone and tell my family about my status.
However. they have many disadvantages too, first making loud noises in public places. Second, they make us spend much more money than a public phone or a home phone. In South Korea, some students use it to get good grades for their exams ; for example a college entrance exam.
I agree with the suggestion that cell phones can be used while people drive. However there are several conditions; for example they must be used with a hands free device and if people want to use them for a long time, they shoud pull to the side of the road. When an accident occurs because someone is using a cell phone, we have to fine him heavily or give a very strong purnishment by law.
Using cell phones on the road has many advantages and disadvantages
