Hi all,
I wonder if somebody could tell me this is correct.
"This WAS the one (that) I was telling you guys".

If it is correct, is this wrong?
"This IS the one (that) I was telling you guys".

In the example you have given, I will assume that you have told a story to some children. Later, you might get out the book that contains the story you have told. You would then open the book at the relevant page and point it out to the children, saying, "This IS the one I was telling you ( guys)."

If you are not talking about a story but about something else,
You should say, "This is the one I was telling you (guys) ABOUT."

To say "This is/was the one I was telling you about, guys"
is more accurate.
