my friend told me that a good way to improve English is to learn the slang.
he said that using slang can make you fell getting closer to the foreigners and easily make friends with them, for the slang is the only vivid and fresh spoken english.

maybe he is right, but i'm not sure. please tell me your comments concerning this topic.

thanks! Laughing

I guess, your friend might be partly right.
You do not necessarily have to speak slang to get along, but it could help you to better understand the spoken English .
Anyway, what is mostly used is the colloquial English.
Slang could contain some unsuitable words you'd better not use frequently.
But knowing some of them without necessarily using them can be quite useful.
I guess, it comes quite naturally speaking to Native speakers that you start to adapt to some familiar, colloquial expressions.
