There are some movies based on books, e.g. The name of the rose, The silent of lambs or The lord of the rings. Usually a movie differs from a book. Sometimes it's quite annoying for me, especially if a book is much better and I read it before I saw a movie.
Should scripts have some additional characters, or changed endings? Personally speaking I adore The name of the rose- the book, but I can't stand watching the movie. What's your opinion?

I experienced the same thing.... I read Lord of the rings, I read Harry Potter, I read Bridget Jones, Momo, The Neverending Story and I was disapointed with the movies... I guess, it is better to stay at home, if one read a book and the movie appears on the cinema posters...

I don't think, that it's necessary to change the plot of a movie, which is based on a book... the important thing is to make clear, that you can't really compare books and movies, because they are two different pieces of art. So the script-writer and the director should take care, that what they produce is a movie and not a "moved" book. Certain atmospheres, situations and moments in a book, which are impossible to express in a movie.... but this also works the other way round... for example you can't use a soundtrack in a book or colour meanings.
So I assume, it is possible to create a good movie based on a book without changing the plot, but the form of representation.

The Lord of the Rigns... Firstly I wanted to watch it. But when I read, that according to the newest trend giving more female roles, whether it is necessary or not, I resigned. I saw it almost by mistake on TV and I don't regret that I didn't spend money for a cinema ticket . I read The Lord... for the first time when I was ten, and that what I saw was completely different from that what I expected to see... Crying or Very sad

i agree with you
but to show the book on screen you need more than 10 hours
noway
so some details must be cut
others must be modified
and so on

but i'm against modify essential points which shape the essence of the book itself.
i will tell a qoutation from aNoble winner Egyptian writer whose many stories turned to movies.
(i can't remember it well but i will give you the gist)
i translate it putting foreign names to be understood
"the one who want to read a J.k.Rowling Harry Potter he can read it,and the one who want to see Warner Bros's Harry Potter he can gp to cinema"
