I'm 15 and it's my 3rd year in US. I speak English pretty well and I got used to living here, but I still don't like it. American lifestyle is not for me. I really want to go to Europe for college, because it's very important for me to love the place I live in. I know a lot of foreign people like me who moved here with parents. Most of them don't like it here and miss their home. Since we're all in high school, all of us will go to college, probably move away and be independent. But eventually, most of those foreign kids stay in US, even though they complain how it's much more fun and nice in their home county. But why? I asked a few of my friends, and they couldn't tell. What's the main reason for staying if you don't like it? Is it just that they don't want to move and don't want to go through all those problems again? And what would you do in my situation? Would you move to Europe, like I plan to?
Tell me what you think.

Cuckoo,

I'm Brazilian. My name's Fernando, 24. First of all, why I'm speaking with you? What reason? It's easy, i'm learning english. But it's only this case? No, of course. I lived in countryside of Sao Paulo state. Are you know? Sao Paulo is the second largest city of America (the first is Mexico city). Now, i'm independent but I live in the same country yet. I think all the people do a option in their life. And you will do too. But radical form it isn't the exit. You speak with parents is a tip. But you do to plan and to have dream are important. See you!

I have been to a few countries before but not yet America. Still, I love my home country most. I think most people dream of traveling around the world and experiencing various cultures and lifestyle as much as possible in their lifetime. But eventually, they will miss their home countries and find them the most suitable places to live in for a long time. According to your message, your home country is not America. If you really don't want to go to college in America, you could discuss this matter with your parents. Being independent is not easy and takes time to get with. I truly hope that you could enjoy your college life and make your dreams come ture step by step. Frankly, if I were you, I would go to Europe for college if I got the chance. Good luck to you!

[quote="bree0123"]Dear Cuckoo,

I like to know what is it about American culture that you don't like? My opinion is if you don't like American culture maybe you should go back, it's important to live in a country that you enjoy everything about it. At least you are questioning if you should stay or go back. I run in to people that they don't like American culture but they still choose to live here, and I don't think that's right.
