Hey everyone?
Just to let you know i am a new comer to TEFL so forgive me if my questions seem a bit mundane.
I have spent weeks trying to find some direction into TEFL but is it me - or is there a lot of conflicting information?
This is me. Im 24 and i train and recruit bilingual (French, Spanish, Greek, German, and others) customer service agents for an airline based in the uk. I have been with the airline for six years, training new recruits for two years and in January 2005 they will be making me redundant.
Im starting my degree in September 2005 and I would like to continue teaching until then. I truly want a teaching career and my dream is to teach in France. I fully accept France is a difficult choice but Im willing to work hard to get there.
In January i would like to start a CELTA course but my main concern is where Im going to teach afterwards. Ill teach anywhere to gain experience and boost my C.V but id really like to find the best pathway.
I know ill pass the course. Ill break my back doing it. Ill be a fantastic teacher believe it or not Im sure of it. But I can not afford to spend months looking for work or not to find work at all.
I dont want to spend lots of money but Id like to earn enough for food and accommodation. I would like six months experience and references for teaching work Ive done. I would like to live away from home for a full eight months with only using 3000.
Am I being realistic?
Id like to go to France but I know I cant for now.

Italy Ive been told its possible but very difficult without a degree. Its a very competitive market. I could spend months looking for work and might not find it at all. Ive been told i shouldnt have a problem in smaller towns and should go there to do the CELTA course (something id love to do). Money worries me though if i struggle to find work.

Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria or Romania also Argentina or anywhere i can get a job and visa before March 2005.
Im thinking it would be easier to find work in the latter because i have no degree or teaching experience. Although i read in Thailand this is not legally possible without a degree - Id try it anyway if i could find work and obtain a reference.
There is a course at an IH school in Poland which Im thinking maybe good. I here Poland is a good starting point but please advise.
I thank you for even reading my message and wish you success in the work that you do.
I'm happy to share experiences and advice with all that needs. |
