I read *mixed bag * on a piece of newspaper. The context is below
It's a mixed bag out there for Wal-mart. And the definition is below as well.


diverse group: a group of people or things of widely differing kinds

Could anyone tell me more about other wasy to use it?

Usually Mary's utility bills were much larger than her neighbors' bills, so she hired a consultant. He proposed a mixed bag of solutions: replacing her old furnace, insulating around the windows and doors, replacing old light bulbs with new energy-saving ones, doing the laundy and dishes in off-peak hours, and fixing the broken window in the attic.

You can use it in any situation where you want to describe a diverse group.
