Hello everyone.
This is from my homework. The teacher says this expression is not proper,
but I don't know what adjective is suitable.
Please help me.
I found in interesting book in the waiting room at my dentist.
I asked him whether I could borrow it.
He answered lending is giving.
Then I felt very sad because of his POOR HEART. When I could share the feeling about the book with friends I would be very satisfied, even if the opinions were different. I guess the dentist hasn't have such kind of sutisfaction. Isn't it unhappy?
I wrote the dentist has A POOR HEART.
Instead of POOR, what adjective can I use in this case?
Thank you for reading my trouble. |

Hi Henmi,
Poor heart usually refers to health, so I agree with your teacher. While I don't agree with your opinion, what you are trying to say is that he is mean-spirited. A common adjective for heart is cold - he has a cold heart. Other adjectives that aren't common but would work are: stern, harsh, hard, ungiving.
Hope that helps. |
