Hi,
My name is David, 34. I'm an Asian born Chinese who studies Mandarin. I live in Portland, Oregon. I would like to get to know someone from Taipei, China (Guan Zhou), and would like to meet one of these days when I travel there next year.

When I do visit there, I would love to converse with you in English and Mandarin.

My interests are movies, studying, basketball, weight lifting, dining out, trying new things.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Nice to meet you Dave. I'm 18, and I don't live in Portand, but I'm very close. I live about one hour south, in a small town called Monitor. I'm very interested in Taiwan....I met my girlfriend over there last year, and I hope to visit again this summer. It sounds like we have a lot in common....I'm admitted to PSU, and I hope to take Chinese there this next fall. Where are you taking your classes at?

Well Hey,

Yeah. I'm taking my course in Chinese literature right now at PSU. I actually started long time ago, but taking one class at a time to finish my degree. I have a conversation partner now..we trade 1 hour English for 1 hour of Chinese.

You'll like the teachers at PSU. At least I did.

Did you like Taiwan? Feel Free to email me too.

[email protected]

Where did you stay when you were in Taiwan?

David

I love Taiwan. Very Happy Like I said, I can't wait to go back again this summer.
I stayed with some friends there...they live right in the middle of Taipei....Tungfeng St, to be exact. We have known them for about ten years. They visit the US regularly in the hopes of immersing their kids in English. It's worked pretty well. Now the kids just stay with us for summer and winter vacation, and the parents stay home...they're pretty much non-related family Wink

That "one class at a time" thing is looming in the distance for me too....unless I get a grant, I wont be able to go to school fulltime, at least for a while. I was going to try to enter the Chinese program this spring, but apparently the first class starts in the fall and is not offered during any other terms. (correct me if I'm wrong...I hope I am)
