Hey, please help me. Can't understand the sentence:
It is time that our government put the interests of the million who elected it ahead of the small group of employers who benefit from uncontrolled immigration. If it does not, the misery that corrupt foreign governments inflict on their own people will become a major determinant of wages and working conditions here in the United States.
Please help.

America has a large population of illegal immigrants, mostly from Mexico and other South American countries, who work for low wages and don't pay income tax. The writer says that it is only a small number of employers who benefit from this situation and that the government should put the interests of the majority of voters over the interests of these employers. If it does not, then corrupt foreign governments will become a major factor in US wages and working conditions. |

But what does your last sentence mean? "Corrupt foreign governments ...?" Try to explain in your own words. Thanks. |
