Does anyone know the meaning "Goh-lasnost*?

Once-hallowed Asian values would have been risky before*Goh-lasnost�

According to my dictionary, glasnost ( as it is usually spelt) is a Russian word meaning `openness` . It started being used in English after the changes in Russian society under Gorbachov. Does that help? Question
