Don't you ever wanna sound like a native English speaker? Fluently, proudly, playing tricks with your eloquent tongue.
She was but a little girl who dreamt that one day she could sound like a native.
She knew people were laughing at her. Nothing was perfect. Everything was a mess. She knew her English accent was horrible. She sounded like a cheap prostitute. Listen to her pronunciation---- if you hope to hurt your ears.
She was but a little girl who dreamt that one day she could write like a Nobel Prize author.
Nobody encouraged her. Her teacher gave up teaching her because she simply didn't seem to understand the kindergarten grammar rules. Nonetheless, she got the worse mark of compositions in class.
Oh, why. She read. She listened.
And so she planned to give up all her effort. She was tired of acknowledging that she was born stupid.
Then a new teacher came.
They had a long conversation.
"Can I sound like you?" her eyes widened in hope.
"Sure. If you wanna." the NET teacher smiled.
This sentence changed her life and now she is writing this article. She may not sound like a native speaker, still. She has not won the Nobel Prize yet. But she can proudly declare now :
She no longer speaks English like a prostitute
and
she gets the highest mark in composition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friends, I'm not here showing off anything. I'm here to encourage those who don't have anyone to support their English learning now. Don't be depressed if you fail instantly, continuously. You will win----sure, if you wanna!
Be patient.
P.S. Salute to my NET teacher, Steve, who changed my life and God bless his familly and his little child. |

However, you shouldn't degrade yourself as a "cheap prostitute".
Hats off to you. |

Yes, that's a wonderful story! I agree with Missdaredevil, though, about comparing yourself to a prostitute when your English skills were much less advanced. One step at a time is all anyone can do. But congratulations for all your hard work and perserverence! What an inspiration! |

Your story about learning English is quite touchable! Your teacher, Steve, must be a wonderful and patient teacher. It seems to me that having a good teacher to direct and correct English at proper time is so important. However, most of the good teachers I have ever met in the cram school have already quit. Accordingly, I don't go to the cram school so often as before. Hope I would meet some good teachers this year and congratulations for your great advancement to English learning. |

Just a quick note about one little word: you need "touching," rather than "touchable." Don't worry, these figurative-meaning adjectives can be tough sometimes. |

Dear charlotte!
congrats on your promotion from a "cheap ...." to a nearly native speaker. But your former place has been ocupied by another person. and the STEVE has not come yet. That's me.My english has come to a standstill and does not want to move any further no matter how much I try.
I am envious of your success.
All the best

LucentShade, thanks for your correction. You are just the teacher I need who could correct my English when I use inappropriate words or grammar. |

Dear all,
Thank you so much for your replies!!
I have not been online for a few days and I am so happy and surprised to see you expressing your opinions here.
To gear2000: thx a lot, friend.
To hala79: same here! You encourage me to continue writing too.
To missdaredevil: oh may be I'll be careful about my language in the future.
To WaMemj: really?
To bud: thx thx thx, may be I really shouldn't degrade myself this way
To river1974: I wish you meet your teacher in life too! I believe so.
To LucentShade: I learn something here.
To Bubu: Don't degrade yourself You are so humble and believe me:
"If there is a will, there is a way."
To river1974: Yes, cheer to all great teachers on Earth.
Thank you everybody.
Carry on!
